Learning Objective
I can locate places on a map using latitude and longitude coordinates.
- 1
Latitude lines, also known as parallels, run horizontally and are measured in degrees north and south of the Equator.
- 2
Longitude lines, also known as meridians, run vertically, with the Prime Meridian at 0 degrees, and are measured in degrees east and west.
- 3
Each degree of latitude and longitude is divided into 60 minutes, and each minute is further divided into 60 seconds, allowing for precise location finding.
