Finding the Area of a Triangle

To find the area of a shaded region with a triangle inside a square, first find the area of the outside square and then subtract the area of the inside triangle.

The area of the outside square, with sides of 7 yards each, is found by squaring the side length: 7² = 49 square yards.

The area of the inside triangle, with a base of 4 yards and a height of 5 yards, is found using the formula: (base × height) / 2 = (4 × 5) / 2 = 10 square yards.
